Strategies for a Just and Equitable World

Serra Sippel Strategies LLC works with clients to achieve powerful outcomes through strengthening organizations and leadership, designing strategies for effective advocacy, and identifying opportunities for impact.

What we do

  • Serra has decades of policy advocacy experience and expertise in creating bold advocacy campaigns that include strategic communications and coalition-building. Serra supports clients in exploring different types of advocacy activities – including education, policy research, rallies, events, trainings – to change policies, programs, and public discourse. Serra has designed and implemented advocacy campaigns that have laid important groundwork and achieved results.

  • As a nonprofit leader with decades of experience working in SRHR and other social justice movements in the U.S. and globally, Serra understands the value and impact of relationships, networks and coalition-building to effect change in the world. Convening and collaboration is critical to building strong institutions and leadership, and to achieving policy and fundraising goals. Serra works with clients to survey people and institutions, create landscape analyses and mapping, to create and implement plans for building coalitions, networks and relationships with thought leaders, advocates and policy makers.

  • Stronger organizations have stronger impact in the world. As a non-profit leader and executive for 15 years, Serra brings her hands-on experience and knowledge to develop and strengthen organizations in the following ways:

    • Strategic advice: From fundraising to communications to organizational restructuring, Serra advises clients on how to address some of the most pressing challenges that non-profits and funders face in order to meet their goals.

    • Strategic Planning: New realities need new plans. Effective strategic plans help non-profits define who they are and achieve goals while embracing equity and flexibility to respond to a rapidly changing world. Whether it’s a new strategic plan or a refresh, Serra will custom design a strategic planning process to help organizations create strategic vision, plans and roadmaps that address impact and diversity, equity and inclusion, and will help organizations achieve their goals for program, organization and development success.

    • Board Development: Having developed, managed and served on Boards of Directors, Serra offers clients her experience creating strategies, pipelines, processes and procedures for building and managing diverse, engaged boards of directors. Serra helps CEOs and boards create first-time boards, and to rethink existing boards, through reflection, analysis and planning a governance structure and composition that best suits the organization.

    • Leadership Transition: When a CEO or member of the executive team of a non-profit organization leaves, Serra is ready to help with a plan for interim executive leadership and transition to keep organizations on track to fulfill their missions.

    • Organizational structure, design and M & A: The design and structure of an organization is critical to serving its mission and vision. Serra is ready to work with clients to help envision and develop a plan to create an organizational structure that supports the organization's mission and its aspiration to be a workplace that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. For clients considering a merger or acquisition, Serra has direct experience with a merger and acquisition of three non-profits, including her own organization, and is ready to support non-profit leaders, boards and funders with stakeholder assessment, alignment conversations, analysis and planning.
